Marlene Sørensen website

A personal website for the journalit and author Marlene Sørensen. Marlene has written three books which needed to be featured, along with some examples of the features she has written for various publications. Large text with link animations provides a simple but striking landing page.

The website was created with a mobile first approach. Even on smaller screen sizes different fonts and font sizes are used to give a bold graphic look. Highlight text with a fluorescent marker effect add drama to the overall look.

For larger screen sizes such as the content expands to make better use of the width for pages such as book features and photo galleries.

The photos page has some interactive features. Photo captions fade up when an image is the focus on, when clicked an overlay expands across the screen to display a large version.

The clean design has sample book pages without backgrounds, they sit seemlessly onto the webpage, as do the controls for the image scroller feature.

The website uses some animations to bring the page to life. For some of the page headings I created a typewriter effect with JavaScript and css that appears to type the heading when the page has finished loading.
